postal poetry's september contest

Here’s a link to another photo by Fernando Sousa, accompanied by my words. I called it, “rolling stones mouth,” after the eponymous magazine. Thanks to Dana and Dave, who, by publishing my postal poems, keep me motivated to do more writing.

There is an ongoing contest for October, this time featuring photos by Mikey G. Ottawa. Entries are due November 15. Be sure to read the submissions guidelines. One of the requirements is to write while wearing a feather boa.

I said it there, and “the poem” is worth repeating here! Excellent. I love the picture, too. I like how I get different levels of meaning when I read it. The obvious sexual connotations are there, but it’s much more than that to me. Awesome job. Congratulations!

And it’s your fault I’ve been obsessing about Mick Jagger’s lips – and slinky hips – all morning ๐Ÿ™‚ I know his face is raddled, but there’s just something about him, even at 110 years old. You’re very clever, C, I would never have thought of the Rolling Stone lips looking at that photograph but with your creation you’ve made it seem obvious.

    Thanks, Julie!

Jo, that’s right, way to use that street talk, *smile*

    Dana, you’re wonderful.

Michelle, it’s true, he’s a slinky guy. I guess it’s the way he sings, and what he sings about, plus the way he moves. Funny, how that broken guard rail looks just like half a mouth.

I think the postcard chapbook thing would be awesome (see my PP comment)… packets of 10 , with perfs for easy detachment and sending along. Or keeping. Oh, please do it. (I know this publishing house ๐Ÿ™‚ that should be interested in it! I’ll put an order in.)
